Report:
Headed out of Sabine in marginal seas with report that they would get better and they did (on the way back in of course). Hit blue water bout 47 miles out. Found a large group of chicken dolphin on some floatsum and customer's had a blast catching them. Ended up with 30, 10 per. cust. Left there and hit reef and immediately started catching decent snaps to 20 inches, most on slip sinker rigs right off bottom. Didn't hook up with any large snaps. All on board wanted to catch a shark, so hooked the lady on board up with a 60 lb blacktip on a freeliner. Was very exciting, cleared the water twice in spectacular jumps. My hat's off to her. She diligently fought the shark for over 20 mins and did a fine job, listened to everything I said. Got it on ice and that was pretty much the end of the bite there other than a couple of freelined snakes. Hit another spot and immediately hooked up a 40 lb ling, while cust was fighting it another 80 lb + ling was swimming with it. Had other cust throw a lure in front of it and it inhaled it and the chinese firedrill was on. Both folks did a great job of keeping their lines from crossing but in the excitement I forgot to tell the guy with the larger ling to drive the hook in a few more times and after 10 minutes it let go of the lure. My fault there. (I get pretty excited). We did ice down the 40 lb one 10 minutes later. Hit some weed lines on the way in and had one cut off from a small baracuda. All in all a very good trip and customers seemed to be very happy. sman

We hit Basco Reef at about 3:00 pm and caught decent snapper. Had a couple of large sharks break off and caught a couple of others to 4 ft. Left the reef at 6:00 pm and hit a big storm coming in. Ran so far west that it took us almost 5 hrs. to get back to the SP boat launch.
