Report:
After speaking to Captain Rob last evening, I decided to give the bass fishing a try. This was my 1st trip of the fall season and although I really didn't expect much, I was still hoping for a decent bite. The plan was to search our local waters first and then head east to where some fish were caught yesterday. The birds were working between the channels and a few short bass were landed. We then headed east along the southern shore of Long Island out to Debs Inlet without see a working bird and decided to head back and fish clams on the Sandy Hook Bar. That resulted in numerous shorts along with a couple of keepers. We ended the day back between the channels jigging under birds for a couple more keeper bass. My total today was 4 short bass, 2 on jigs and 2 on clams and 1 keeper bass of about 30" at 10 1/4 lbs that was good enough for the pool. Tight Lines! TINKNOCKER

Nice job taking the pool.

Since I know how much you like to jig, have you considered hitting one of the striper boats out of Belmar/Pt. Pleasant ? The jig bite has been very good for over a week (although it was somehwhat slower over this weekend due to the hard south and southwest wind. There's no reason why the bite shouldn't be strong again once the wind backs off mid week.

If I don't decide to go blackfishing next weekend, I'll probably hit one of those southern jig boats again. Unless of course things burst wide open off the Hook-lol.
