Report: Launched out of Keyport @ 5:30AM and tried the area between buoy 1 and 3 that had been productive the past 2 weekends. The area was loaded with 1 1/2 # blues. I caught a few while attempting to find weakfish on the bottom. After loosing a few jigs to bite offs I decided to scratch that idea. Due to the lack of drift in the area I moved out to the 11A buoy off of Keansburg to try for fluke. The drift wasn't great but it did move the boat enough. I caught about 15 fluke on squid/spearing combos with a chartreus hootchie, four of those were keepers. Then the breeze died out completely. I switched back to the jigs and added three more keepers to the box out of about 10 more fish. The wind picked up again so I switched back to the bottom rigs. I needed 1 fish for my limit and finished the day with a 24 1/2" fluke that weighed 5.5#. I had the boat back on the trailer by 10:00 AM. It was a good day with 8 keepers out of 26 fish.
I missed out From: Andrew Sokol (172.136.143.81), New jersey
Sounds as if I missed a great trip-at least compared to my afternoon trip on a local party boat the same day.I'm still interested in hooking up-pardon the pun- and fishing together.
