SUBJECT: # 15: Penn 114H Senator II - Wide 6/0 Reel

Submitted by Jeff Gotthelf (199.253.122.31) from SOUTH CAROLINA on 3/24/00 12:21:00 PM

Color preference: N/A

Size preference: 50# Monofilament

Where does this product work best: Offshore Trolling

When does this product work best: Wahoo and other large Pelagic Species. This reel will stop them without hesitation. Large fish can rip off 200+ yds, and the drag doesn't seem to change a bit. For a $130 reel, these are real nice!

Any techniques or tips you want to include: Although the reel is rated for line to 80#, I like to use 50# for several reasons: 1. More line capacity 2. Reduced drag requirements. 3. More line capacity (allows removal of chafed line and still gives you plenty of backing).

This new Penn Senator is a fine 6/0 reel and the best reel for the $$ in this class you can get. They are simple to maintain, reliable, have a great drag and have the capacity for >600 yards of 50# test line.

I've fished with 114H's for over 20 yrs. I've caught wahoos, dolphin, white marlin, and tuna up to 70 lbs and have never had one stripped. I bought 2 114HLW's 2 years ago and I like them even better. I've always used 60lb Ande on these reels and the extra capacity of the HLW is nice. Great value for the money.
