Submitted by Captlmb (172.183.253.80) from NEW JERSEY on 3/13/01 2:40:00 PM

Color preference: black

Size preference: 30lb&50lb

Where does this product work best: I fished offshore with the 30 on a Calcutta 400. Awesom on Mahi. The 50lb on my Calcutta 700 sharking caught 200lb Blue sks and just awesome

When does this product work best: Anywhere i will take this setup anywhere and be fearless.

Any techniques or tips you want to include: just let it go. Im going to the 10lb this year on my weakfish rods and see what it does. The sensitivity is unbelievable.

I have been using Spider Wire and fire Line for years in salt water. Last spring I spooled a penn 3000 on a 7 foot med action powere graph rod with 30# Power Pro yellow (fish alot at night). I always use a mono leader in salt water (teeth). I fish alot of deep water 40-80ft. It is very durible(I take care of all my line) I am still using it. The only problem I have had is the same problem I have with Spider wire on spinning reels.

    a. If I am not careful casting into the wind the line gets caught on its self when coming off the spool on the cast and pulls coils instead of unwinding off the spool.

    b. Some times if the line does not get reeled on the spool tight when working a lure, when you cast the line tries to pull some coils off the spool instead of just unwinding off on the cast.

    c. For me fireline does this the least of these three lines, however Fire Line will twist up some before the other two. All of these line work great on bait casaters my preference being 6/30 or 10/50 Spider Wire. TopWater

    I have PowerPro in 10, 20, 30 & 50#. I like the green.

I find the 20# pretty much the minimum needed, as it's very thin and I love the stuff on my 4 Megalite 4000's. Have caught everything from specled trout to snook, redfish, bonefish, permit, tarpon and sharks on it. Even dolphin offshore.

The 10# is a little too brittle and VERY thin, can creep between the roller & frame on a spinner. If using 10#, a flexible rod is best.

I have the 50# on Ahab 20's, International 16S', Calcutta 700's. Great for sailfish, striped marlin, yellowfin, big dolphin, tarpon, sharks...

I have the 30# on TLD 15's, Calcutta 400's. Works great!

I found it's like fishing with piano wire, and serrated piano wire at that! On a surf rod/spinning reel it's a bad, painful finger cut just waiting to happen. OK for the very experienced I guess, just like the name suggests. I'd caution against anyone letting a youngster use this stuff. To each his own.

I agreee,It's all I use now.Put it on ALL my rods.No more breaking lines and loosing fish.
