SUBJECT: Fishing & friends

Submitted by Captain Butch Foster (24.40.216.104) from NORTH CAROLINA on

5-1-09

The ride out this morning was straight into a SSW wind and normally I would have to report a rough ride. This was the first real "head on" conditions for the "YEAH RIGHT II" and I am proud to say that everyone was dry and comfortable below in the cockpit of what has turned out to be a fine fishing machine.

The weather was beautiful albiet quite windy and some rather wavey conditions, but the new Turbo Cummins Diesels we just put into the boat never missed a lick and ran smooth as silk!!!

Capt Chris and I were honored once again to have with us "cousin" Perry Carter from Pinehall,NC and "cousin" David Thornton from Walkertown,NC (the "cousin" deal is a thing from waaaayyy back, athough it's my misfortune these guys are not related to me)

Also, we had Blake Ashburn from Rural Hall,NC Randy Sydnor from Lewisville,NC, Robert Strupe from Lexington,NC and Craig Stevens from Clemmons,NC.

We headed SW of the tower today for some bottom fishing. Upon arriving at the first spot we were greeted with some nice black bass and snappers then the sharks found us and immediately took over the action.

With all those we wanted we made the move to another place only to find the same scenerio.

To make a long story short, we kept moving until we hit a spot where we finally got away from the sharks and from that point on it was Black Bass, Silver Snappers, American Red Snapper, Triggerfish, Vermillion Snappers, Grey Snappers, Calico Bass, a few sharks, and King Mackeral on the lite line.

Another great day of fishing (and catching) with even greater folks on the boat, The Lord has blessed us well!!!

Today's trip (Saturday 5-2-09) was cancelled due to small craft advisories and the winds. To those who don't know, a "small craft" is considered anything under 60 feet.

So, you might want to think before heading out in those conditions!!! Plus, if you do go out in those conditions and something happens, forget about your boat insurance, they will NOT pay a claim!!!!

The fishing is good from the inside to the Gulfstream and the winds are bound to let up soon, I hope!!

If you have any pictures you would like me to post here of your trips just send them to captainbutchf@earthlink.net and I will be more than happy to put them here with your credits that you send. We would appreciate it and be honored to post them for you!!!

Got another trip Monday but as for now, the winds do not look favorable, but as we all know that's two days away, and the weather will change several time before then.

Till next time, God Bless Everyone and Everything!!!!

Fish On!!!!
