SUBJECT: Space for popup camper near raritan bay.

Submitted by damian (68.192.162.125) from NEW JERSEY on

I'm looking for a place at a reasonable price to keep my popup camper for the summer near raritan bay. Camper is small. I live in north jersey and come down to fish on weekends. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Sandy Hook has a campground that would give you access to Sandy Hook bay.(this may be for special groups Boy Scouts etc.) Cheesquake state park may also be an answer. Not much in Northern New Jersey

I camp at Cheesequake State park several times a year. They are very spacious campsites, and the price is 15.00, use to be 10.00 per night. The only drawback for your pop-up is there aren't any electric and water hook-ups. I'm a tent camper, who tows a boat, so this isn't a bother to me. The price and the privacy is more important. Some sites, like 46, don't have anyone camping close to you on either side. I have never had anything stolen when I was gone for the day, it is patroled regularly.

There are alot of playgrounds for the kids and Keyport marina's boat launch is a few miles-under 10 minutes away. Sandy Hook Beaches are a 20 minute drive. ***As a bonus, there are some really cool hiking trails, that my kids loved- you walk through different eco-systems, and places dominating with blueberries, sweet magnolias, cedars, and some neon colored mushrooms, turtles. The trails were made by boy scouts and are in great shape- you can comfortably walk on boards through wetlands & marshes. I agree with the other poster who said there isn't much in North Jersey...but there is Cheesequake.
