doug (68.36.160.47) from NEW JERSEY says Fishing June 8-11
Pier fishing in NJ is generally not very good so unless you want to just hang out and not catch fish, I'd go north and jump on a party boat for bluefish which is the best bet right now. A night or day of bluefishing runs about $40-45.
There are two areas: (1) Barnegat Light which is about 40 minutes north (Doris Mae or Miss Barnegat Light are two) and (2) Pt Pleasant/Brielle/Belmar which is about 1 hour north. There are many good boats in those areas (Norma K, Big Jamaica, C0ck Robin, Gambler, Golden Eagle, etc.)
Night bluefishing will have the most action and catching your limit (15) is not too difficult. But day bluefishing will be good too - casting A47s. It's early in the season so the blues are running around 3-8 pounds but provide plenty of action on spinning tackle.
Generally speaking, I would stay away from the southern NJ party boats in places like Cape May, Wildwood, Port Norris, etc. Down there, you need a charter - but there is still good striper fishing.
