SUBJECT: Texas wade and kayak fisherman coming to Al.

Submitted by Phillip D. (66.6.80.19) from TEXAS on

I wade and 'yak fish over here in the Galveston Bay Complex about once a week year round. I've heard of the different species available nearshore and in your bays that we can only access farther offshore. I have kin that lives in Alabama and I'll be visiting and we'll be fishing from Saturday through Monday night (April 13 - 15). We are both on tight budgets and will primarily, if not exclusively, lure fish. Or fish with bait that we are able to catch (I'll have to check your local bait catching regs). I have a 9' diameter cast net that will catch anything down to anchovie/glass minnow size. As cheap as the out of state short term licenses are down there we are not averse to wandering over into Florida if there are also good fishing opportunities within a reasonable distance of Mobile Bay (40 - 50 miles). Reading historical data from this board on what is caught around this time, I think I'm reasonably armed for the critters y'all are catching. If anyone has links to good info I'd certainly appreciate it.

BTW, my mom brings y'all good tax dollars a few times a year when she comes down and spends her hard earned dollars on vacation. Though, unfortunately for the fisherman she also unwittingly supports those damned private beaches that we cant fish from!!!!

I'm bringing y'all some hard earned Texas money!!! Please help a fellow out with some good wading and kayaking fishing holes.

Thank you and I'm looking forward to seeing y'alls gorgeous beaches!!
