SUBJECT: Galveston fishing??

Submitted by labguy (128.249.96.251) from TEXAS on

I have moved to Houston so would like to learn more about the bay fishing in the Galveston area. I have a bay boat - any tips on where to launch, fish and generaly get along with the mass of folks on water?
Thanks for advice!

  1. JohnKerwin (75.25.82.9) from TEXAS says Awful big place.
You have west Gal. Bay. East Galv Bay. San Luis Pass area. Texas City dike and adjoining bay systems. As well as Eagle point out of San Leon. Best bet, get a Hot Spot map of the Gal. Bay complex and find ramps near your location.

Or you can wait patiently by your computer for someone to offer to meet you at a ramp and show you all the honey holes around.

  2. labguy (128.249.96.251) from TEXAS says Tell me about it....
Yes, it is a big place, lots of options. I do have a map and have been doing some exploring and getting to know a couple of folks trying to get a feel for the area. Not asking for anyone to devulge their secret honey holes just looking for some tips...any ramps to avoid, availablity of bait or places to catch bait, artificials that may work, spots to avoid fishing....that kind of stuff. But if anyone would like to meet at the ramp.....ha!

  6. Chade (67.10.145.170) from TEXAS says Joe Cranton
In 7 years this is the first posting worth commenting on. I run World Wide Computer Networks and fish 2 or 3 times a year. I teach others around me everything I know about networks. If ever I drop below the curve to stay ahead of the rest of the pack, I deserve to be replaced. With the posting that Joe Cranton did I see a very secure fisherman with confidence that he is the best out there and not afraid to share information with his so called competition. The Texas Gulf Coast is to big to fish out with the present regulations in place. New spots are found every day. I will most likely use a couple of the numbers if I have time to go fishing this year and if I can figure out the GPS again. If I want to catch some real fish I will call Joe and book a trip. I know I will catch fish with him. It's too bad the rest of you are so insecure. You might learn something from Joe on integrity if you are teachable. It's too bad that most fishermen were honest at one time and not cut throat like most are now.

  7. Joe Cranton (129.106.98.175) from TEXAS says Well
GayJack has some holes he is proud of and don't want to share. You mess with me on one of "your" spots and I'll turn your rear into structure boy. That'd mean more fish for me so I welcome the opportunity.

So how did it feel to get wooped? I knew you didn't have it in you. Good try though old man I'm sure the mud will come out with a tide stick. Now stay out of my spots. Jack!

  10. Danny Williams (209.184.242.253) from OKLAHOMA says I'll need a guide
When I get the time to fish around Galveston again, it'll be with a guide, not one of you silly worms.

    I'll call…
