Travis (12.189.32.56) from ALABAMA says Beware of Hugo Ford
Ifshed with him one time out of POCO LOCO. I would be ware before you spend your $$. This guy was represented to us as a full time guide and once on the water with him we found out he had not been on the bay for over 2 months. He provided no instruction on techniques or baits to use. I imagine in the summer when you are drowning croaker he can put you on fish but I would proceed with caution. Alosif you go to POCO LOCO Beware that they are not 15 minutes from the bay it is over 45 to the ramp.

I agree with Travis 100%. Hugo Ford is a waste of money and a waste of a day. I wouldn't go out with him again if it was free.
On our first wade of the day I asked him what to throw and his was reply was and I quote "I don't know, throw whatever you want." Then while my party and I got in to throw our own lures, Hugo laid up on the front deck of his boat and listened to the radio. After a good hour or more of wading with zero bites, he never even came to pick us up. We had to wade back to the boat and he begrudgingly took us to another spot just as productive. After the trip, the cleaning tables were full of people cleaning coolers full of fish. We boated 2 fish all day.
He didn't give a crap about his party, didn't care about our success, and didn't care about our comfort. He drove us back to the lodge (Poco Loco) but before we could go back, we had to stop at his house so he could clean his boat and feed his 100 dogs. Yes, he made paying customers stand around and watch him clean his boat for an hour. Then, he wouldn't move his suitcase from the backseat of his truck, so 3 full grown men had to ride in the backseat with all of his crap. Not comfortable and not safe.
The only high point of the trip was when the moron dropped his rod and reel in the water trying to check the depth. Karma came back to bite him in the butt.
Poco Loco lodge is first class all the way, and Jim is a nice enough guy. Just don't let him put you with Hugo or your trip will be ruined.

Wayne (75.16.111.192) from MONTANA says He is a great fishing guide
I am going to stick my nose out and stay that Hugo Ford is by far the best fishing guide that i have ever been on the water with. He knows all the best spots, and does his job two times over. I tell everyone that goes to texas to take out 3 or so days and fish with him. He will make that trip to texas worth it. They say that the people in Texas are nice, but he is truely great. I have fished with him every year for 3 years now and I will wait to go down there just so i can have him guide my family and me. So to those guys who want to degrade him as a fishing guide, you try and do it for a living and have guys like you too. I would have drowned myself listening to you so called men cry like women.
