SUBJECT: opening the pass will kill more whoopers

Submitted by ouda (76.31.120.48) from ALABAMA on

salinity in the marsh now is too high for the whoopers resulting in their having to travel long distances for drinking water. opening the passes will make the matter worse. the marsh is practically devoid of crabs now and unless more fresh water gets into the ecosystem the whoopers are doomed. I predict they will be netted and relocated or put into zoos. large numbers of adults and chicks died this year for lack of crab population. we need to keep the passes closed so that the little fresh water that comes in can dilute the marsh water.

too bad you don't do your homework lynn or else you'd know the above. you are a dunce and no one is listening to you anyways.

Tell you what, call Tom Stehn and try and feed this crud to him. He will set you straight. But this is what he said, Maintaining a connection should benefit the blue crab population, and thus benefit whooping cranes since blue crab is the primary food of the whooping crane. Once carried out, the project should boost the productivity of Mesquite Bay and adjacent crane marshes that are so important to the endangered whooping cranes. Here is his number, 361-286-3559, call him old buddy. Who is the dunce now!!! and thank God people won't listen to you.

  2. Hard Head (12.25.230.211) from TEXAS says Tom Says
    From Mr. Tom Stehn:

For the first time all winter, all the whooping cranes on today’s flight were found in salt marsh. The cranes are believed to be feeding on fiddler crabs since blue crabs in the marsh ponds are still scarce due to the continuing drought. A blue crab count done on April 1st found zero crabs in the marsh.

Salinity levels are extremely high due to little to no freshwater influx.

    Yes Lynn, you're a Dunce!

You are so full it. It would be great if you knew what you was talking about. But go ahead on and keep making a fool out of your self. I love it.

    You're assuming she can read?

  6. Spooled Again from OTHER says Rain
Dat's what the crabs need to drop salinity levels......I think.

  7. Hard Head (12.25.230.210) from TEXAS says Wow, no response from Lynn?
I guess she actually read what Tom had to say regarding salinity levels being high.
