how big? From: click (24.167.72.164), TEXAS
the skipjacks we get down here rarely reach 24". Last week I caught a 26"...put on quite an aerial show. I know that bluefish get bigger on the Atlantic coast than the puny little ones we get here in Texas. How big will skipjacks run up north?

skipjack From: Jorge (67.81.87.233), NEW JERSEY
Here in the north east range from 4 to 12 pounds on the average.

Aerial show? I've never caught one that went airborne! I'm not sure about the skipjack you catch in the Gulf. Are we talking about the same fish? We catch both skipjack and false albacore (little tunny, bonito in some parts of the country). The little tunny (the ones with the mackerel backs and the spots) grow a little bigger than the skipjacks usually. The skipjacks here have the stripes on their sides not to be confused with the Atlantic bonito that are smaller and have teeth.
