RR bridge From: Bill (68.89.43.43), TEXAS Not sure who calls it that but there are 2 rr bridges in the area that are fished that I am aware of. First is a low bridge that you can see (if you know where and when to look) from 45 as you are crossing the flood dyke. The other is where Highlands Bayou makes its last leg before getting into Jones Lake. Launch at Louis' bait camp. Go under the Hwy 6 bridge and follow the bayou and you will come to the RR bridge. You can make it under this one if you do not have an extra tall windshield. This is probably the most popular RR bridge and there are almost always a couple of boats fishing there primarily for flounder. The other bridge, instead of going under Hwy 6 go to the left and stay going to the left and you will come to this very low bridge. This one is also avialable to get to on foot. To get there on foot you would exit Hwy 6/Bayou Vista make a u-turn and get on the north bound feeder and follow it and make the necessary u-turn to head southbound again. You could probably park down under the bridge and walk the RR tracks to the bridge (provided the flood gate is open) or yu can park at the top of the flood dyke and work your way over to the bridge that way. As always there are shallow areas and some reefs to watch out for but it isn't bad at all. The very low bridge I call the Freddyville bridge and the passable one I call the Bayou Vista bridge. If there is nothing happening at the BV bridge you can go on out to Jones Lake and drift fish and do fairly well. A lot of people swear by Jones Lake and I have taken a lot of fish from this general area. From there you have numerous places to go to. Just keep in mind that Jones/West bay area is best in fall/winter/early spring where as the fish will move to the deeper East and Trinity bays to get away from the heat.
in later spring/summer/early fall
rr bridge From: brad (128.249.96.252), TEXAS actually, its the rr bridge that runs along the 45 causeway to Galveston....if you are coming into galveston, it will be on your right....
Santa Fe RR bridge From: waderdude (70.246.9.209), TEXAS It is the one by the causeway on the left going into galveston.
Clarification From: Ryan (70.240.242.196), TEXAS Kinda looks confusing with all these answers. I just want to chime in and clarify as well.
As the previous post states, its on the left hand side of I-45 when you are ENTERING Galveston on the bridge. To add a remark to this report click here.Click here to return to report
