Sandy Hook Bay From: Bill K (69.142.225.86), NEW JERSEY Hi Jim: I'm glad you're into them again. I'm assuming that you were fishing in the same spot you usually go on the western shore of Sandy Hook Bay. There's too much going on after school these days to be able to get down in the afternoon. I'll be there soon though. Is it a tide thing or just a late afternoon bite. What do you think? Are you blind casting or do you see any bunker pods?
Answers to Bill K's questions From: Jim Balicki (71.187.234.129), NEW JERSEY No bunker pods were visible, no surface swirls, no working birds. Upper part of the tide is the ususal time for action. Low tide means wading way out. If the higher tide coincides with late afternoon/evening, that's probably the best combination. I was there again today, Sunday, PM. High tide was about 7:30PM, and the action started to pick up about 2 hours before that. I landed 9 from 18" to 27" on a 1-1/2oz Gator spoon. Bunker chunks were also working for those who were going that route instead of blind-casting spoons. Twice I tried using a popper, but the best I could do was one swirl from a fish that did not even touch the lure. To add a remark to this report click here.Click here to return to report
