Tuesday's Surf From: Bill K (76.116.198.219), NEW JERSEY
It sure was calm on Tuesday. I was in 'Squan just after sunup and fished there for an hour with no takers. Birds were picking about 400 yds. off occasionally. A move to Pt. Pleasant put me at the scene of some earlier action which ended as soon as it started. My buddy's call came too late for me to be there when it happened. I saw no swirls nor any splashes. I did talk to two fishermen who had some action before dawn around Seaside in one trough about 10 yds. from the beach but they also saw nothing else.

I had to leave the beach around 9:00 in order to help get our boat to Carver's boatyard for the winter. On the way there, we still read bait in the river and there were still adult bunkers off our dock in Crabtown Creek. It's not over if your boat is still in the water. But those of us who now can only fish from the beach, still have to wait for another body of fish to invade the surf.

The fish are still around, but the numbers of fish are down from what they were a few weeks ago. If you know where to go and can get out in the early evening or before sunup, you can score with plugs. There's still one more bait movement yet to come. Let's hope it stays along the beaches and the stripers follow.
