Report:
made the 10 mile run to the grass beds just west of the ranger station hoping to catch some specks/reds. after about an hour of soaking live shrimp along with artificial baits, i threw my net a few times and caught some healthy tiger minnows. we decided it was time to try something different while we had some good bait and the seas were still fairly calm.
while enroute to petit bois island we said we owed ourselves at least a 15 minute try on the east tip of horn island. tossed out the anchor in about 12 feet of h2o in a trough that runs just off of the beach and offered a large live minnow to whatever felt froggy. it didn't take 5 minutes before my 5500d started singing the blues(and it sounded sweet). after a walk all around the boat twice a nice red surfaced and eventually ended-up in my 128qt igloo. my friend glenn hooked-up and here we go again.
this action repeated itself until we had our limit of 3 apiece. we decided to move on and leave'm for another day. the fish ranged from 25 to 29 inches. that was all we caught and we gave thanks to mother n.
