Report:

It could have been "one of THOSE days", but surprisingly, turned out to be worth the effort. It seemed like everything from the cruddy weather to traffic conditions and gastro-rumblings conspired to keep me from going.(Ahhh, but persaverence ;-)

Well, I FINNALLY got to fish THE bridge.(see the link "Fishing Piers" at the top right of the reports page)And what a pleasant experience! From the time I walked into the store till I HAD to leave. The whole place is set up for good fishing. The young lady at the counter was VERY helpful and VERY courteous. She suggested using a small hook and splitshot with either a live shrimp or fiddler crab. She gladly told me about the spanish mackeral that had been seen last nite under the lights (100s of 'em, 5 were caught, in mid-January no less!), and the picture of the smiling boy with a pompano. These people know a good time. Even the other folks fishing, wave when you drive by and say "hi" when walking or driving past or come to help with a net.

It's a FUN PLACE!

I saw a couple of sheepshead being landed while driving out and soon decided with a mile and a half long pier, there was no reason to crowd anybody.Any residual apprehension faded as the first live shrimp dropped down got nailed by a "quicker-than-me" sheepshead that did a 180 around the nearest piling and broke off. The other 11 shrimp and most of the dozen crabs suffered the same fate, only the outcomes were different. Oh, there were plenty of excuses and "gosh darns", but I did manage to box 7,the biggest was just under 5 pounds.

Not bad for a day, that I almost didn't get out of bed ;-)
