Report:
To put it bluntly today was what one of my college professors called a "Kat leveler".
Rode over to the bridge hoping to show one of my pier buddies "killer"Bob just how I caught those BIG sheepshead Monday. Everything seemed right at first (weather, live bait, they bit yesterday, etc). I should've felt the bad karma when the guy at the store laughingly told me they probably wouldn't bite since I'd brought somebody to show. It turned out to be prophetic. I noticed the current was not moving as much when I had been successful, and the CATCHING was tuff! In 3 hours Bob had caught one, and I had several "get off the hook". Even the pinfish wouldn't eat all our shrimp. We had to get back to L.A. ,so we gave the remaining shrimp and the one fish to a VERY appreciative nice ole fella who said he "hadn't EVEN had a nibble, YET." And that fish "would be juss right for supper for me and the mrs."
(Enjoy it my friend, I'm having humble pie ;-) Oh well, if they bit great EVERYDAY it would have to be called the Pensacola Bay CATCHING Bridge !
Me, I'll be back to try it again, soon. Like my daddy used to say "NEVER say never and never say ALWAYS!"
One other note for those who know him, we stopped by to visit another buddy, Otis Boyd (a regular pierfisherman from the Gulf State Park Pier in Gulf Shores) who has been ill for several months with still yet determined maladies. Please include this good fisherman (and fine fellow ;-) in your prayers.
