Report:
Arrived at Horne Island a few minutes after 6:00am after a choppy ride across the Mississippi Sound from Davis Bayou in Ocean Springs. With the wind coming out of the WNW, we decided to fish the wind protected waters near the Big Lake lagoon. The water was calm immediately near the island, the rest had one foot waves. We anchored up within five yards from the beach near a large grass bed. The water was murky and our expectations were low.

We had three dozen or so of live shrimp and decided to fish them under a popping cork. The first cast netted a 26 inch Red. Nearly each cast resulted in some action. Before long we were out of shrimp and had to net some finger mullet. The fish quit biting about 10:00am, but by that time we hauled in nearly 30 Reds and 1 monster yellow moouth speck. All the fish were caught within 10 yards of the beach in 3-4' water. We realesed all the bruisers to catch on the next strong rising tide on the morning of August 12th.

We will let you know how we do. Til then, TIGHT LINES!
