Report:
Boat left the dock with less than 20 anglers about 7:30am on New Year's Day. Motored out along Cannery Row looking for live bait but couldn't find any. Captain Danny headed South towards Carmel Bay and set up drifts just offshore from world class golf courses. "Super fly" rigs with strips of squid brought up a variety of rockfish. Some lingcod caught on "iron". Finished with rockfish limits all around. On the return trip treated to sightings of gray whales migrating to Mexico from Alaska. The most amazing sight at the end of the day was a huge "pod" of hundreds of dolphins accompanying a lone kayak off Pacific Grove. Happy New Year!
Good Luck,
Deadly Dave
