Report:
Fished with my wife and daughter on the Caliber out of Davey's Locker in Newport Beach - 1/2 day PM trip. We fished North of Newport Beach in the Huntington Beach area. Captain and crew were very curteous and pleasant which added to the enjoyment of some excellent fishing action. Everyone on the boat (20 anglers) caught fish and had a great time. My group caught 50 northern kingfish (which Californians call Tom Cod), 5 Sculpin, 2 Calico Bass, and a White Sea Perch which took the day's jackpot (caught by my wife). Bait was squid and live anchovies fished in 40' to 60' of water. We used a single hook and a sinker of 3 to 4 ounces. Most of the fish were released. This is a very good boat and the atmosphere created by the Captain and Crew was one of calm and happiness which allowed everyone to enjoy the fishing, the great weather, and the beautiful vistas. I recommend this boat to anyone visiting the area.
