Report: i hate to post a negative report but this trip was a diaster.
we chartered the High rollin in Biloxi for a 12 hour charter. It was our first time on the boat and it was very disappointing. the boat was not fueled up when we arrived at the dock and we spent 30 mins of our charter time sitting at the gas docks. We then rode 2 hours and 30 mins only to sit at the same oil rig for 6 hours. During this time we managed only 5 snapper and one 50+ pound cobia (great fish.)
We asked the deck hand and captain if we could move to another spot. The reply we got was "You never leave fish to find fish." If you ask me numbers do not lie, 5 snapper in 6 hours is not exactly loading the boat. Finally we persuaded the captain to troll our remaining time. We managed 1 king, 2 chicken spanish and 2 bonita.
The deck hand could also use work on his people skills. He was pushy and arrogant and it seemed we did more work than he did untangling lines.
After a trip like this, you really come to appreciate the captains and crews that work hard to keep their clients in fish.
I have been on many charter trips and know that this charter service is not up to par. I would not recommend this boat to anyone!
Charters From: chiefeuby (63.10.33.217), ALABAMA I am sorry to hear about your poor charter. I would drive to Dalphin Island Ala. and charter a good boat. Lady Ann has a great Captin that will work had to put and keep you on fish. Also Capt Dalton @ Fowl River is very good.
I have a big boat but I do not charter.Hope you have a better time next time.
unmet expectations From: Billy (205.188.192.39), ALABAMA I was with Joe on the boat. I partly feel responsible b/c I booked the trip. We were suppose to "fish the Rigs," troll and wind the trip up attempting to land a few big sharks. When I reserved the trip initially we only could go for 10 hrs and that was not enough time to attempt all 3 types of fishing. The Capt called me a few days later and said he does 12 hr trips but they are not on the web-site. We agreed b/c we THOUGHT we would have a better chance of putting fish in the boat. Joe summed it up well, we sat at the same rig entirely to long even after we had requested to move. The trolling seemed to be half hearted. Correct me if I am wrong, the purpose of chartering a boat is to provide the best possibe fishing experience and chance to catch fish for the clients (Joe, some other friend and myself). When we trolled they only put out 4 lines off the back of the boat. I had to ask several times to run the out riggers (which there are two capable of running 4 lines) but they only put out one line one the out rigger. Am I missing something or am I expecting too much? I don't think so and neither do the rest of the group that payed in excess of $1100 dollars that day to catch fish. The one bright spot was that beautiful cobia (59inches between 60-70 lbs.) Please let me know what you think and what you would expect from a charter...........BillyCharter From: Chiefeuby (63.125.15.11), ALABAMA When you charter a boat, you should expect service. Sounds like the boat you were on did not provide the best service. The Captin should know how best to fish in his or her area, but he/she should explain why he is putting out only four lines. When using only flat lines, four should be about right. However, if he had down riggers and out riggers, all could have fished while trolling.
EMail me I can give you a list of the best boats in the area.
Bad time charters From: Captred (204.149.20.50), ALABAMA That capt needs to set at the dock and make boat payments.
