Went out Monday afternoon to check out the offshore situation. Only ran to about 16 miles, and water was poor all the way out. Very smooth running when we got there though. I made 40 mph on the way to the first rigs.
Only caught one jack and two bonito. Late afternoon/evening it started getting rougher, and we decided to head in to get back by dark. Just as we were packing up, we ran into a school of dolphin about 5-6 lbs. Pulled out our trout rods, which had Corky's attached at the time. Had several pickups that got off. (Two of them broke hooks on the Corky's quicker than we could react.) Finally got one in the boat. The sun and wind said it was time to leave. We would have killed for just 30 minutes more daylight.
