Went out with a friend in his 18 foot whaler off Warwick point. Searched around prudence island, and found two decent sized bluefish schools. The first one was in a small harbor, and the blues had some baby pogies corralled up against a breakwater. The fish were going crazy, and birds were everywhere. Caught a 8 or so pounder on a hopkins spoon, a 4 on a Red/white popper, and then a 6 on a mirrolure top dog, a 6' 6" rod, and ten pound test line. That fish fought like a motherf*cker and chewed the sh*t out of the plug! What a blast! Anyway, we went in to get some gas, and then the fish were gone! Searched for about half an hour, then tried trolling a tube along "the wall" at Prudence for some stripers. No luck. We went back to looking, and soon found some birds diving near a small cove lined with rocks by what looked like a state park. Nailed three blues in three cast on a hopkins (the fish were mostly deep, but we saw a few splashes). They were mostly 4 pounders, but the last fish was a good 10. The blues disappeared again and we headed back to the marina. As we were pulling in, we saw yet another pod of birds diving in some real shallow water near a sandbar, but whatever fish there were weren't showing, and after a few casts without a hit we headed in. A great four hour morning on the water, with a good amount of action for the middle of the day in such a populated area. Fun was had by all!
