Report:
Decided to make a run at the schoolies just outside Gwynns Island... hadn't heard too much going on, but had to take a peak for ourselves.. Came out of hole in the Wall around 1:00 pm, seas went from 1 ft as reported, to 3 ft. in a hurry... We saw lots of birds flying but non flocked together... We almost turned it in, but the winds subsided after 2 hours of getting pretty wet.... just south of wolftrap we saw a nice pocket of birds and next thing you know we were on them... caught a dozen or so in the 19 to 22" (schoolie range).. we caught them on 1 oz. white bucktails with a white mister twister teaser... Chartreuse bucks also worked... We each kept our two for dinner and went home.... When I cleaned the fish they all had 3 to 5" croaker and spot in their stomachs....
A word of advise, make sure you've got your safety equipment together, and obey the size and quantity limit on the Rock... The "Man" came out of no where and boarded our boat on the way in to Gwynns.. (He seems to like that place during the season!!)
Can't wait to hit the Cut Channel, R2 and The Cell for bigger fish soon!!
The Maverick
