Report:
Set out for the curlew rigs at about 5:30 that morning. Wind was howling out of the east at about 15 mph. We decided to hit the inside of chandeleur and trout fish for a little while in hopes that it would lay down. We fished the grass beds and a few cuts. Picked up around 10 keeper trout in all. Caught a nice jack at north island. By this time it was around 2:00 and the wind started to die and the water began to lay down. We got to the rig at about 3:00. Hooked up on a couple of nice snapper right off the bat. We decide to tie up so we were drifting away from the rig getting the hook ready. A 35 lb. cobia appeared right at the boat. After casting cigar minnows and pin fish we decided to rig up a jig. He took and we landed him. Got tied up to the rig and had a steady 2 1/2 hours of fishing. All told for the day we caught 10 trout, 1 cobia, 1 jack, 13 snapper, 3 kings (1 smoker), trigger fish, hardtails,a few small grouper, and a small barracuda. Was a pretty good day considering the wind made us wait out the majority of it.
