Report: Entered Star Island and fished Thursday and Friday, because Sat was supposed to be a blow out. Only heard of about 8 sharks caught with 4 weighed in, one was a 120# blue that didn't even qualify. When I left, the winning shark was a 249# blue. Others were a 170# thresher and a 143# mako. We caught 2 blues around 150# on Thurs. and left the grounds for home at 1 pm on Fri. in 5-8 ft seas. It was a nasty ride back to Westerly and it got worse as we approahed the Westerly Reefs. We found a small pocket of 61 degree water about 25 miles out and that's where we caught the blus. Everywhere else, 55-57 dgrees. Many large bluefish in the chum slick, and many ocean sunfish so warm water can't be far off.
