Report: We heard reports of tuna off of VA. I checked the SST charts online and decided to head for the Cigar area. Pulled the throttles back at the NE part of the cigar but the water was 69 deg. No weeds, no temp breaks. We ran down south in 50 to 100 fathoms and around the 900 line we hit a nice current rip and temp break to 72-73 degrees. We had a few multiple hookups throughout the day and ended up bringing home 3 nice yellowfins. Lost a few more, early season bugs I guess. We did have a 350-400 Lb Blue Marlin on for a bit and while he was grayhounding across the water we broke the leader at the crimp. It was beautyful while it lasted. We also toyed with a hammerhead for a while but couln't get the gaff in him so we decided to get back to tuna fishing. Great day but a long run from Salt Ponds!
