Report:
Me and Tom launched at Jordan Cove at about 9:00am and went straight to Hatchetts Reef to fish the incoming tide.
We anchored in a couple of spots before getting a couple of fish, 3 and 4 pounders. Then this old man saw Tom catch the second fish and anchored about 20 feet off our starboard bow and for the next 20 minutes no one caught anything. There was always about a half dozen boats around the whole time.
We move a little farther from the old man and anchored in the heavier rip and the old man boated a nice black that appeared to be about 5 or 6 pounds and within the hour the old man had his limit of 4 fish and we gave him the thumbs up as he left.
We did manage to catch our limit by high tide. Tom caught most of them and I lost $3.00, 1st, biggest, and most. We then went over to Niantic Bay and made one drift and came up with a small sandshark. From there we went to Two Tree Channel and on the first drift we each caught a short fluke, 16 1/2" and that was it. We made several more drifts with no luck.
All in all a good day and a lot of balckfish were caught. Next trip will be to Sea Flower Reef, They say their catching fluke there.
