Thank goodness I finally got a day off from work - and on such a great day as today!
Went down to LNB for the afternoon tide. Water was VERY warm for this time of year (didn't get an exact read). Normally it's so cold you can barely stand an hour in it even with thremals. I only had on jeans beneth my waders and was in the water for over 3 hours.
Anyway, I worked the back marsh of the bay and managed my first 2 stripers of the year, both around 18-19". Both were taken on an Electric Clouser (chart/white). The fish were in very good condition - bright color, straight lines, no rot or lice. The only other fish I was taken was a similar bass on a worm by the guy next to me. A lot of people down there trying. Would have stayed longer but the wind switched to SW making flycasting very tough in that area. I also saw a lot of 2-3" bait (killies probably) around and bunker popping out in the channel.
Hopefully this is a good omen for the year!
Tight lines all.
