Report:
Finally got the tail chaser out for some much needed "recreational fishing". Took out my neighbor and my first mate to check out some new spots. We traveled to the South end of St. Catherines Island to look at some creeks I spotted through satellite imagery. Looked better from space then it did from the boat. No big deal, I almost enjoy finding new spots as I do just fishing. Ended up in my old faithful location. Was amazed to find the height of the tide. Looked far higher than predicted. As the moon phase subsides, the tides will get back to normal. We fished for several hours before eventually finding some decent redfish. I pulled a far above legal size monster out of about 1.5 feet of water. I had to wade through knee deep mud to get to the location, but it was worth it. Had to find water that was not moving fast with the large falling tide. Redfish feed with head down, and need to hear or smell the bait. Once I got over to the small cut coming off a main creek channel, I pulled out three fish all over 20 inches in 10 minutes. All went back to grow for next time. A great day on the water. The weather has definetely cooled off. Shrimp were impossible to find early because of the huge tide and muddy water. Ended up steaming down to Kilkenny to pay 12 bucks for skimpy shrimp, wasting time and gas. Check out our site, we know have the tail chaser team shirts. The first batch of long sleeves is almost gone. www.tail-chaser.com. See you on the water.
