Report:
Wilmington River-fished Friday morning on the late incoming tide (high was at 0930) and outgoing.
Got skunked at the first 2 holes. Then found the reds scattered at various spots up in the grass...very high tide. Kept 7 reds and 2 trout. We had another legal trout but a handling error by a newbie sent it over the edge to freedom. No great quantities, but boy were the reds nice. 2 went 15-16 inches. The others were 19-21 inches.
They seemed to eat fresh dead shrimp and mud minnows with equal voracity. Mud minnows we found were as fat as my thumb and the length of my middle finger. Also had some success with the cajun thunder and translucent DOA, producing one legal trout and a shorty.
Great day.
