Report:
Got out for a late start, due to the upside down tides. I prefer the outgoing 99% of the time. Almost talked myself out of it, but I'm glad my wife coaxed me out of the house. Ended up with the infamous "southern slam" with a redfish, trout, and flounder. Started off great, pulling three dozen shrimp in three attempts with the cast net. I had a feeling things were going to be good at that point. Stayed for 15 minutes, putting five dozen lively shrimp in the livewell. Headed east to my usual spots around the St Cats area. First spot turned out to have too skinny of water for me to stay, or I would of spent the remainder of the tide there. Headed to spot #2 and quickly pulled a 17" flounder. Also had to depart that area quickly due to the falling tide. Ran up around Kilkenny and tried to locate some new action, but the water prevented me from hitting some fantastic spots I located. I marked plenty of new locations on my gps for next time. Ran behind Ossabaw Island and set the hook at my old faithful. Was watching a couple boats accross from me that caught absolutely nothing. I think they wanted to sit in the nice calm water and hang out and drink beer, because the fish are never in that location. I will normally find moving water, with an oyster/land/creek break somewhere along the shore. I began to pull fish after fish, ranging from a 20" trout to plenty of redfish. I even caught two redfish that had 6 spots each (not the same fish). The other boaters seemed to become frustrated with the situation and left, leaving only myself and my loyal dog name Lincoln to enjoy the moment. It was nice because I normally don't keep the fish I catch. I only keep them if they are to be eaten immediately and not frozen. I fish so much, I always have fresh fish around if desired by customers or friends, so its not a big deal. My wife and I fried up all the fish toady (sunday) and took some to the neighbor, the rest goes to the boys at work tommorrow. I only regret that this perfect day had to end so quickly with the shorter days. Darkness was coming quickly when the fish really turned on. I had an 11 mile run back to Demeries creek. Wish I would have stayed around and did some gigging with the light. Can't wait until Saturday to check out the new locations I discovered. You can see the fish I brought home on my website www.tail-chaser.com if interested. Tail Chaser Fishing Shirts are finally available and doing well. See you on the water, look for the Tail-Chaser 22' Royal Blue Shearwater!
