Report: Spent the day on the water, trying to beat the front that is now here for the weekend. On thursday, I took two guys out to the St Cats area. The tide range this weekend is far above normal, but we decided to make a go of it anyway. We fished extremely hard, working plenty of my guaranteed locations. Worked Newell Creek then hit the rakes at the Kilkenny channel opening. We put a very nice Redfish in the release well, along with a couple of whiting. Ended up pulling anchor and ran down to the Bradley river. Wasted plenty of gas and three hours of time on that boon doggle. One of the guys insisted on putting his bottom rig out, which accomplished two things....wasted at least a pint of shrimp and caused me to deal with at least 15 stingrays and the blood all over the boat that goes along with hook extraction. Moral of this story, keep the bottom rig off of the oyster rakes this time of year. Unless of course, you have the desire to feed the yellow tails, crabs, and rays. The day was spectacular with nice weather and plenty of sunshine. I would like to dispay pictures of the fish on my website (www.tail-chaser.com), but they were released at the ramp, to grow another day. See you on the water, look for the Tail Chaser Blue Shearwater.
