Report:
Crushed them again yesterday. Haven't been out since 11/7, getting things ready for incoming family and of course, northeast winds all last week. Left boat ramp at Skidaway at 5:50 am, arriving to fish grounds around 6:45 am. I nailed a 33 inch one and my wife nailed a 34 inch one within the first thirty minutes. Low tide was at 7:45, then like clock work, no bites until tide started moving in again. Then for another hour we caught 10 more, all over 30 inches except for one, which went 24 1/2. All caught on soft tail grubs - color didn't matter. As long as you cast in front of the moving fish, you hooked up. One was caught on a Dixie Flash spoon. Again, like clockwork, when the mud flats filled with water, the bite was off. However. while easing out of the flats, we caught two more off two separate oyster beds. Did one more loop to see if we could pull more, but it was over. Probably saw over 40 tailing fish throughout the low tide. One thing interesting - in past 5 weeks that we've been smoking them, there has been LOTS of shrimp and baitfish around. Yesterday, only once did I see a handful of baitfish scatter, and no shrimp. The fish were definitely hungry! Hope it continues into December. Got a G Loomis fly reel last night to match my G Loomis 8 weight fly rod. Will try to catch my first ever red on a fly in the next week.
