Report:
I was contacted by a local guy that wanted me to teach him a couple things about redfishing. I had not been out in a while so I didnt quite know what to expect. To make things tougher, we would be fishing up in his neck of the woods Wasaw Sound. I havent targeted fish up there seriously in a few years. We left to a howling wind and storms blowing in. We were able to find a protected area behind a bluff. Pitched out the first cast and right away BAM....it was on. We had our limit in 45 minutes. We hung around another 45 minutes and doubled that. All the fish were reds 16-27 inches we also managed some undesized black drum. All in all a great day on the water and we had the whole place to ourselves due to the weather.
The reds were IN the structure. If you were out of it more the 6 inches nothing and any closer you were losing tackle. All fish caught on shrimp, traditional float rig or Carolina rig. We lost a good bit of tackle but managed to give this fella his "Best day ever" on the water.Just look at that grin in the photo.
