Report:
Ran overnighters on friday night on the 54 karat which is a 54 bertram. Had a blast out on that boat as it was a little more comfortable then what I am used to being on. The fishing was on fire right before dark as we put eight 50 pound yellowfin in the box on chunked up blackfin and also a nice 30 pound dolphin on a frenzy popper. All the yellows bit on 60 pound mono leader with 5/0 frenzy hooks. The way the current was rolling we had to start our drifts about 200 yards upcurrent of the rig. The night bite was a little slow so we slept most of the night and dragged for marlin in the morning with no success.
Sat night was a different story as I had Jimmy Campbell and his friend Whitt out on the 36 twin vee for a marathon castathon with poppers. After the usual breakoffs and the like we put 8 yellowfin in the boat up to 50 pounds and about 20 nice blackfin which were released. All of these fish bit on the easy casting frenzy popper. The fish were hanging out pretty close to the rig and blasting flying fish. We also picked up two dolphin on chum.
