Report:
Snuck a happy hour in today after work. tried to beat the mad rush for the weekend. I dont know whats worse the price of gas or the 25$/quart kilkenny is charging for shrimp!!! (14$/pint). I got a pint which were the small-medium FL variety. I 'd guess there were about 3doz in a pint.
Fished the low tide. Ride out was slick and the way back in was a little bumpy. I could not find any decent water. Clarity was ~1 foot.
All fish on popping cork or float rig +shrimp. Tried mud minnows and only caught one flounder on those.
The catch 2 flounder (12" and a door mat that broke me off on an oyster after getting a look at the boat).
2 reds ~16" released. 5 trout (13-18"). 2 whiting (kept one wasnt going to live) and one croaker.
Also tried artificals, doa .... the kitchen sink. Slow at best tonight.
I hope you all do better than i did this weekend. The fish were spooked quite easily today and the school of trout we were in moved after each hook-up.
My depth finder lost power out there. Couldnt get it up running. I'll have to check the contacts and see whats up.
There were large schools of 4" pogies of the beach. I tossed the net to check the size for you king Mac boys and couldnt even lift it out of the water. they were thick. When i was out on sunday i saw some larger ones 6-7" out by the St cats sea bouy. The spanish were all over them.
