Report:
Went out around 6 am and the weather was perfect as was the seas almost flat. Looking for small tuna and about 6 miles out south east of the bank I found them on the surface but being new to tuna fishing I tried to get in front of them and trolled to no avail as they passed me buy without a hit. I then went out southeast of stellwagon and fished for groundfish and caught 3 haddock between myself and a good friend. Also a lot of small cod. Did not mark many fish at all so I decided to go out to jeffries ledge as the seas were so calm. My daughter had told me she was going to go out on a party boat with friends and I was thinking that it would be funny to run into her never thinking I would but she said she was going out on a boat named the yellow bird and I seen a boat out a little bit further on the ledge than myself so I went out but it was not the boat she was on.I fished out there for a little bit and then noticed another party boat headed towards me and seen that it was yellow and I started to laught and when it came close sure enough it was the yellowbird. I pulled up close to it and my daughter started waving and I thought it was pretty funny to meet them. She said that there luck was not so good and I told her mine was not so good either as the weather was perfect a 10 but the fish just were not there. No fault of anybody just was not meant to be. I stayed a while then started back in and spotted tuna again and again no bites so I just trolled for about 10 miles then decided to come into gloucester harbor and fish for blues but no luck there I guess you got to take the bad with the good as at least the weather was great. Well may be going out sunday with the family but probably out of rye harbor, n.h. mostly for a ride and maybe try to find those bluefin wich I have been looking for. Good luck to everyone Kevin Parrington
