Report: Jigging trip on the Sea Hunter. As we approached the Reach Channel/TC Buoy area, there was a small fleet and a few birds working. Soon after we stopped, a half dozen or so stripers were caught on jigs. The bird play then stopped; we moved, looked around, eventually stopped, but no further action was to be had. Rob then announced that we going "down the beach", and a long ride ensued. When we reached Sea Bright, there were scattered boats, and bird play in several areas. There also were fish breaking water. The action lasted for the entire trip until we left shortly after 1 PM. My catch consisted of 1 Bass, a "keeper", and 22 bluefish (kept 10) rangng in length from 16 inches to 27 inches. An A27 or A47 jig (plain) was as good as any lure. Hoping for another Bass, I experimented with a Gator spoon and a 3oz Spro bucktail. Both lures caught bluefish but no bass. The fish were feeding on peanut bunker, anchovies, bay anchovies (rainfish) and even squid. Pool winner was a 20# bass.
