    Report:
Went out of Billy Goat Hole on Wednesday. It was me, my buddy Chaz and his son, Wilson. The seas were beautiful, about 1 foot, and the temperature was great. Water temp was about 59. We went out to a rig in 100 feet and stayed there for about 3 hours. Chaz caught three groupers right away! But...since they were only 8 inches long, we quickly threw them back. We caught about 20 Red Snappers, from 14" to 24", and released them all but I'd be lying if I said I was tempted to keep the 24"! Wilson and I also caught spadefish so we at least had something to bring home. Then we moved over to another rig in about 110' and fished there for about an hour and a half. We picked up about 10 more Red Snapper, 1 33" Redfish, 1 small vermillion, several grunts, several spadefish and 2 Bluefish. Our bait all day was fresh shrimp, cut squid or cigar minnows; although I tried the vermillion for bait for about an hour at different depths but never go a hit. I wish we had had more time to go further out, I suspect the vermillion, our main target this time of year, would be out there. Does anyone know where the AJs go this time of year and how to catch them? Anyway, another great day out on the water!
