Report:
Fished with grandsonsons Andy (15) and Tommy (13) Miller and two of their friends around rigs in the Dauphin Island / Ft. Morgan area on the 16th and 17th. We used mostly fresh dead shrimp to catch a variety including redfish lots of sheephead to 9#, spadefish, black drum and red snappers which we released. We caught well over 100# each day and everyone had a ball. The boys cleaned the fish and the boat each day before going to the beach for some skim boarding.
I know that these aren't the glamor fish that you catch further offshore, but if you haven't tried sheephead you are missing out on some mighty good vitals. We only burned 11 and 8 gallons of gas respectively on each of the days. I think that is pretty good for a 23' twin engine boat.
These old grand parents are very fortunate to be able to entertain our grandsons and their friends, but we need a little rest so were back home watching them play baseball.
