Report:
My wife and I went on the PM trip during a visit to San Diego. A total of 30 anglers made the trip. It was a very pleasant day on the water - the boat was excellent and comfortable, and the mates were very friendly and helpful. Fishing was picky and tough since we fished in very deep water for the most part - 120' to 200'. The bait was live anchovies and sardines and most people caught at least a couple of fish - mostly vermillion, canary rockfish, a couple of lingcod, and some other varieties of rockfish. We started with 6 ounces of lead but had to add more weight as we fished in deeper water - that was not fun. My wife and I landed seven rockfish and missed several others. While the boat was fine and the mates were very professional, I am not confident that the Captain gave it his best effort to locate the fish.
