Report:
Went out in the early morning darkness with one of my fishing friends and took his boat as I had trouble with my boat [gps] went out to Tillies Bank and what a day. We had non stop action as we caught plenty of haddock, cod, and cusk. We had to release all our codfish many of which were very big fish as cod in our area closed October 31 because they are getting scarce and this is there spawning season so we need to bring back this great fish. What I didnt understand though was there were many draggers and other fishing boats out there I wonder what they were after noing that cod was closed and even if you were targeting other fish I am sure they would still catch many cod which would be a by catch and thrown back in dead what a shame. But anyway we caught some nice legal haddock and all the times that I have bottom fished I have never caught as much cusk as we did and they were very big fish. there were still a few whales out there to see but the bluefin tuna look as though they left as I did not see any.Well lets hope the codfish have a good spawning season so that we can bring back this noble and great eating fish.I am trying to find a place that will look at the gps so I can get back out a couple of times before the snow and I have to put my boat to bed for the winter. Good luck to all the diehards like myself who make the effort to get out in the cold [no crowds] and I am kind of dissapointed as no one posts here anymore. Yours truly kevin parrington
