    Report:
This a report of a Striped Bass that was caught carrying a ALS, yellow, tag. It was tagged on 8/12/06 by Ben Garfield at Portland, ME. It was recaptured on 10/19/06, by Jim Balicki on a headboat (partyboat) off Sandy Hook, NJ. Approximate length was 26" on both dates. As expected, the fish did not grow measurably in 68 days, as it was busy swimming from Maine to New Jersey. This striper was one of 10 that I caught that day, all on metal lures, mostly an A47 Spider jig. I also caught 4 bluefish on the same type of lure. The tagged striper was not of legal size in NJ, so it was released, minus its tag. I think tagging is an interesting sub-hobby. Having tagged 226 stripers, starting in 1998, I have received 14 returns (recaptures). I have also caught 3 tagged stripers since 1998. If anyone is interested in becoming a tagger, check out the website: www.littoralsociety.com
