Report:
I had a pair of very skilled Fly Fishermen onboard this morning and the plan was to catch a few At. Bonito early and then go look around the shoals at Cape Lookout for some big Bluefish and hopefully a school of Red Drum.
Here's what happened. The Bonito were a let down, but we did get 1 on a fly. Then something amazing happened! While dredging a fly deep in 60 ft of water, Chuck got a mystery fish to eat his fly and after a quick battle, he released a 28", 8+ pound Gray Trout. Unbelievable!! We also caught Spanish Mackerel and Bluefish.
Later in the morning, we released 4 Bluefish over 10 pounds. These fish were caught in less than 2 feet of water! We presented flys to many other Big Bluefish, Spanish Mackerel, and even a couple of monster Sharks that were cruising in 3 feet of water.
I will be bait fishing and sight casting for COBIA from May 8 until May 28. Plenty of open dates. Give me a call at 252-504-2611 or 252-241-8350. Check out my fishing at www.fishtopwatercharters.com
Last year we had as many as 5 Cobias per day and my boat record is 83 pounds! Give me a call. BIG FISH on LIGHT TACKLE
