Report: After several disappointing evenings of getting bait ripped off the off by little bluefish, I switched my location from the Point to Pea Island. I've been concentrating on the holes just north of the visitor center and catching a fair amount of puppy drum.
The pattern has been pretty simple. Look for areas where the water is either washing over the bar or running along the beach into a hole. Put a nice piece of mullet on a hook and use a small sinker (so the rig walks a little.) Today I caught 6 puppy drum between 20 and 25 inches. Then I capped it off with a 20" black drum.
