Three Day report:
Sat. Dec. 22- Started late in the morning due to long drive time. Fishing with local legend Wayne. Fished from his boat (dark thirty) today. Started trolling swimming jigs in waterway at the choice spot and had not a hit on several passes. Lots of debree in the water due to the full moon high tides. Decided to head to jetti and cast some DOA's. Greeted with rough seas and wind. Hard to hold close to either jetti. Quite a few birds working of beaches. No trout.. Ran back to waterway and made a couple of passes. Caught 1 10" spec. on electric chicken swimmer.
Sun. Dec. 23- Started early to light wind and little sun. Fishing with local legend Wayne from his boat (dark thirty) again today. Ran strait to jetti and fished the outside south. Quite rough but without the wind we were able to hold well. Wayne had a large trout/red? break him off. Then I caught two trout within 10 min. 1st was 3.5, 2nd was 4.3. Then a nice red, just a hair undersize. Petered out for awhile and so did the tide so we decided to try the inside while the current in there was light. I took a nice trout, 4.7 and fat after the first few casts. Thought it might be on....not. That was it. Came on in to building clouds and just in time as a small front moved thru. Little rain and a drop in pressure.
Mon. Dec. 24- Started early by myself in the Inletfool as Wayne had to return to work. Trolled the start of the ebb in the waterway. Notta. Ran out to the jetti with better conditions than the last two days. Light roll but not bad. SW wind drifted me pefect along the north jetti. The fish were just not feeding in the time I had to fish this morning. Left out at 11am to sure I sure I had time to clean up everything and drive the 5hrs to make Mother-in-law's Christmas dinner.
Hope to be back around New Years day. Maybe I can get several days of decent weather, the big trout are there and hungry. In the last two weeks people I know here have caught several trout over 6lbs and 1 9 lb maneater.(my Dad). And the best thing, no boaters, no jetskis just a few diehard fishers....Keep your poles bent
