    Report:
Conditions were better than expected. First drop was over a wreck in 300'. A very slow pick of small to medium sea bass. One small pollack was landed. Second drop was in shallower water. This wreck had more life. A good number of jumbo porgies and larger Sea bass were landed. Also a good sized Monkfish (aka deep sea angler). However the bite died out due to a strong current. The last wreck was infested with dogfish although a number of keeper codfish were caught. I ended up with six jumbo porgies, two sea bass and two ling. Not a good day to full the cooler but still beats sitting at home. The trip was limited to 33 persons and there was plenty of fishing space. The captain tried his best. He made several moves aound each wreck and then searched out other wrecks. The mates were attentive untangling lines and making sure you had enough bait. There were two other party boats fishing in the same general vicinity. I was able to hold bottom with 12-14 oz of lead using 50lb power-pro and a 75' shock leader of 30lb mono. Unfortnately, there were people on each side of me using spinning gear and 8 oz of lead. This is not appropriate equipment for this type of fishing. If targeting porgies you need to downsize your hook size to a #1 or #2. I tried squid and mackeral strips but the bait of choice today was clam.
